Being the oldest child in my family, I was forced into piano lessons for 11 years. Like any normal child, I fought it, and like good parents do, mine told me "someday you'll thank us"! Well, someday is here and I do thank my parents from the bottom of my heart, for giving me not only a solid foundation in music, but a love to fuel a lifetime of learning.
I studied music at Ricks College taking courses in piano pedagogy (teaching), music theory, and piano performance, though my final degree from Utah State University was in Nutrition.
I started teaching music to children when my oldest son was about 3 years old. I realized that, even so young, he had a great capacity to learn the language of music; and I could not let that window of opportunity pass me by.
I have taught music/piano since 2009. My biggest reason for joining the Let's Play Music/Presto team was my desire to have this program in the lives of my own children, and I am delighted to share it with yours.
